We have hosted markets, pops and events across Edinburgh and Lothian’s, having worked with a range of different venues we are now focusing on a few venues to establish regular markets.
Our first market was in 2018 at Bellfield in Portobello. Since then we have hosted markets at various locations and our first pop up shop was in April 2022 at St James Quarter with 35 makers in stock, the pop-up shop run over a couple of dates.
This gave a first glimpse of retail for our makers and we loved the concept of a pop up with the commitment to finding a permanent space.
We then teamed up with our fabulous plant friends at Seb’s Urban Jungle to create Festival City Market in Summer 2022. We run a six week long indoor market at the old Superdry shop in Waverley Market. With over 250 independent brands involved from a pop up coffee & plant shop, to vintage clothing, handmade makers, creative workshop hosts, live music, magicians, dj’s & management on unicycles it was the start of our love of collaborating and working with others to create unique local events.
We have had the amazing opportunity to attend Fringe By The Sea for the past two years forming a collective of makers, attending the makers market, bringing a range of products to the 10 day long festival.
We delved into outdoor market organisation whilst collaborating with The Neighbourgood Market in summer 2023 for a 10 week long Saturday markets, hosting up to 30 makers each week working alongside the street food market.
Being given the opportunity to attend our first music festival, Connect in Summer 2023 has been a highlight of our journey so far, with makers, creative workshops, face painting, permanent jewellery, vintage clothing. body glitter, nail art and tooth gems all under one large stretch tent we were able to showcase makers, their amazing products and also include some of our favourite independent artists into the market tent.
We have worked with some amazing charities too, and after a very successful event with Porty Pride in Summer 2023 hosting the market at Portobello Town Hall we are delighted to be continuing this exciting partnership.
We have now few regular venues that we use for our markets, but we are always looking for new venues, collaborations and open to new ideas how to showcase the talent of local makers.
